As excitement builds towards the Ulster Final this weekend, Monaghan goalkeeper Rory Beggan has reacted to a billboard featuring his image.
Following Monaghan’s last grasp win over Derry a fortnight ago, Upstairs Downstairs in Monaghan Town put up a billboard to celebrate.
The board features, Beggan with the caption, ‘Those Americans haven’t got a clue, no harm to them’.
The sign is a reference to Beggan’s efforts to become a professional kicker in the NFL in recent years.
Speaking to Northern Sound, the Scotstown man revealed that originally he thought that the billboard was AI.
The Monaghan shot-stopper believes that any opportunity to market the GAA should be taken.
He said: "I did see it yeah. I thought it was AI at the start, but I don't think it was.
"It's a bit of a laugh yeah. It's a way of marketing GAA. In fairness, Upstairs Downstairs have gotten their bit of marketing out of it as well.
"It's good to see a little bit of personality about as well when it comes down to it," Beggan added.
