'We cannot let properties get into such a bad state'

Breffni House in Carrickmacross is set to become a B&B.

At a recent Carrickmacross-Castleblayney MD meeting, Cllr PJ O'Hanlon labelled the building a "blight on the town".

However, Cllr Noel Keelan said work has started on the building and the developer assured him it will "come into full use as a B&B, with management in place".

He told the meeting this will be a very welcome addition to the town, but added that "we cannot let properties get into such a bad state".
