'The area that is being dug up now is close to what was dug up before but I have had my own suspicious about this area before'

A new search is taking place today at Bragan Bog in Co Monaghan to find the remains of Columba McVeigh, the 19-year-old man who disappeared in 1975. Several searches of the bog have been conducted since 1999 as part of a concerted effort to find the Co Tyrone teenager who was murdered by the IRA and buried in a secret location.

His brother Oliver told Northern Sound earlier that there are people in the border region who know exactly where is brother is buried. And he appealed to them to come forward and share whatever information they have with the Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains.

Mr McVeigh added that today's search is close to the area where the six previous searches have taken place. "Trust is what its all about with the Commission in relation to people coming forward," he continued.

"The Commission tells us what they need to tell us. The area that is being dug up now is close to what was dug up before but I have had my own suspicious about this area before."
