The Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board have submitted a business case to SOLAS for a new college of further education in Cavan. In what the CMETB is describing as a "sizeable submission" the plan outlines a range of different options with costings, architectural considerations and economic and carbon emissions or climate action appraisals for each.
According to its website, SOLAS is the state body charged with overseeing "the building of a world class further education and training sector in Ireland". A statement from CMETB to Northern Sound says "As these are only options at this point, with no decisions, SOLAS has requested that ETB ensure their submissions remain confidential - and we must adhere to their request."
The statement also said CMETB is awaiting feedback from SOLAS on the submission and direction on their next steps "which is likely to take some months."
