With thousands of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) not registered with the National Ambulance Service across the country, fears have emerged that this could potentially delay a person accessing this life-saving equipment in a medical emergency.
As a result, one local teenager is on a mission to change this narrative for the betterment of communities right across Ireland.
17-year-old Clíodhna Ward is a first responder within her community and is also part of the senior panel for Aughnamullen GAA.
Combining her love for the GAA and saving lives, Clíodhna created the '30 seconds of your time campaign' and entered it into this year's BT Young Scientist Exhibition.
Since then, her campaign has gone from strength to strength.
Through her campaign, there has been an increase in AED registrations across Ireland.
