Since its establishment in 2007, Activ8 Solar Energies have helped Irish homeowners and businesses reduce their carbon footprint and save on their energy bills with solar panels.

200 jobs are being created at a solar energy company based in County Monaghan.

The new posts will come on stream over two years.

The announcement was made by the Taoiseach Michael Martin at the opening of a new headquarters for Activ8 Solar Energies in Carrickmacross.

It's the largest supplier of panels to SSE Airtricity.

The roles will include administrative and back-office positions, along with jobs in the areas of design, technical, engineering, plumbing and roofing.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Ciaran Marron who is the CEO of Activ8 Solar Energies said the company is "delighted" bring local employment to the area:
