Cathaoirleach of Monaghan Council issues appeal over Colomba McVeigh disappearance

PJ O'Hanlon raised the issue at the recent full council meeting

The Cathaoirleach of Monaghan County Council has appealed for anyone with information about the disappearance of Columba McVeigh to come forward.

A native of Donaghmore Co Tyrone, Columba was 19 years old when he went missing on the 1st on November 1975,

He is one of the "Disappeared" victims of the Troubles whose bodies have still to be found.

The 50th anniversary of Columba's disappearance was marked with a mass earlier in the week.

A search, which began in August, is ongoing as investigators search Bragan Bog in Co Monaghan for his remains.

PJ O'Hanlon raised the issue at the recent full council meeting held on Monday, appealing for anyone with information to make it known.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr O'Hanlon said the family deserve to give Columba a proper burial.
