Cavan County Council have issued a Compulsory Purchase Order in respect of a cluster of derelict houses in Ballyjamesduff, which the local council say is unfit for human habitation.
The local authority have also issued an order to purchase in used land at the same location in the County Cavan town.
The CPO of the five terrace properties are located in Derrylurgan and opposite the Rassan Road junction.
Cavan County Council say these sites will be used for age friendly housing that will then be utilised for social dwellings.
Owners, lessees and occupiers of the lands have been notified, and objections can be made in writing to An Bord Pleanála by 5:30pm, May 22.
The second part to the order refers to 0.6316 hectares of land described as being overgrown located at the rear of the row of derelict houses.
