Cavan councillor hits out at 'disingenuous' response to request for additional LIS funding

Sarah O'Reilly says Minister Ryan is "not in touch" with what is happening on the ground.

Transport Minister, Eamon Ryan, has been described as "disingenuous" following a recent Cavan County Council meeting.

Councillors voiced their disappointment over Minister Ryan's response to concerns around the lack of funding allocated to the Local Improvement Scheme (LIS) for roads across Cavan.

Aontú councillor Sarah O'Reilly believes Minister Ryan used the generosity of Minister Heather Humphreys, who reintroduced dedicated funding for LIS in 2017.

In his response Minister Ryan stated that the department for Rural and Community Development continued to fund the scheme, and that allocating extra funds from his department would not be an option.

Cllr O'Reilly says Minister Ryan is "not in touch" with what is happening on the ground, nor is he "fully aware" of what his brief is within the Department of Transport:
