A Co Cavan councillor has called on more to be done in relation to hedge cutting.
Cllr Winston Bennett said maintenance of hedgerows along roads is so important.
He said it's allows more light in to allow road to dry out quicker and they are also unsightly too.
Cllr Bennett says issues around hedges have been the vain of his life for over 20 years but it's important to highlight the issue in a hope that more people will take up their obligations by keeping them cut.
In recent weeks, the Ballinagh councillor called for a change to the current hedge cutting restrictions.
Currently hedge cutting is prohibited between March 1st and August 31st under Section 40 of the Wildlife Act 1976.
Fine Gael's Winston Bennett believes the date should be brought forward to August 1st.
Cllr Bennett we need to think about safety here and that's the most important part of all this.
