Cavan County Council has received departmental approval to proceed with the construction of the new €1.5 million Ballyjamesduff Fire Station.

The completion date of the project is earmarked for late 2022, depending on the developing situation regarding Covid-19.

The new state-of-the-art, two-bay fire station will include a drill tower and drill yard, and will be located at Derrylurgan, Rassan Road, in Ballyjamesduff.

This latest development follows the opening of the brand-new Virginia Fire Station in 2019 and will complete the modernisation of County Cavan's ten fire stations.

Chief Fire Officer Noel O'Reilly praised the Ballyjamesduff firefighters for their "patience and determination in getting the project across the line":
