Cavan County Council votes to raise commercial rates by 10%

It's with a 'heavy heart' councillors made the decision

Rate payers in Cavan are facing a 10% increase in commercial rates in 2022.

Cavan County Council has this evening voted unanimously  for the increase.

Chief Executive Tommy Ryan outlined that the local authority has successfully secured funding for projects worth over 40 million euro for the county, however there is no provision in the budget to provide the necessary match funding.

He told members that they would need to source a loan for this, but funding from local sources would also be required.

Cathaoirleach, Clifford Kelly says it was with 'a heavy heart' that the decision was made.
