A Cavan designated centre for disabilities has been found compliant in most categories during a recent HIQA inspection.
Fairview House provided by Trinity Support and Care Services Limited, is situated close to a small town in County Cavan.
On March 31st an unannounced inspection was carried out, and it was found compliant in 10 areas, substantially compliant in two and not compliant in one.
On the date of inspection there were two residents in the centre.
The centre was found to be non-compliant in the notification of incidents category.
It was noted that the person in charge demonstrated they were aware of their legal responsibility to notify the Chief Inspector of Social Services of any adverse incident occurring in the centre in line with regulations.
However, it was observed that prior to the inspection some allegations of abuse and or adverse incidents occurring in the centre had not been reported to the Chief Inspector of Social Services as required.
The inspector acknowledged that work had been undertaken by the provider prior to this inspection with all persons in charge and managers on the organisation's safeguarding and child protection policies.
Additional assurances were required so as to ensure that all adverse incidents and or allegations were being reported as required to the relevant agencies.
The centre was found to be substantially compliant regarding complaints procedure and protection.
The inspector noted that, while both children appeared comfortable and settled in the house on the day of this inspection, improvements were required with the complaints process, safeguarding process and notifications of incidents.
