Cavan gardai are appealing for information in relation to a car that struck a footpath and crashed into a parked car in Cootehill last night.
Enquiries are ongoing to identify the driver and witnesses suggest that the driver was hardly fit to walk.
The motorist left the scene on foot.
Gardai have said it is lucky that there were no pedestrians in the vicinity and nobody was injured.
Meanwhile in Monaghan town, gardai received a report of a car driving dangerously on the outskirts of the town on Thursday night.
The vehicle was intercepted a short time later and the driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
It transpired the driver was an unaccompanied learner permit holder who was under the influence of alcohol.
He was charged to appear in Court and now faces disqualification.
Gardai are once again reminding motorists never to take to the roads while under the influence.
