To celebrate National Tree Week which takes place from the 19th to 26th March, the Tree Council of Ireland and Coillte, with the support of Cavan County Council, are making saplings available for free to voluntary community groups and those participating in the Green Kilometre Scheme.
Interested groups must undertake to plant the saplings in a suitable public location, in their own community. Saplings will be supplied on a first-come-first-served basis with preference given to community groups that have previously participated in National Tree Week.
Applicants who demonstrate where planting will happen, and the success of previous planted saplings and trees will be ranked higher. The closing date for receipt of applications is 5pm on Wednesday the 15th of March next.
