A Cavan man has gained notoriety after his huge success at the recently held World Skills Ireland competition in cabinet making.
Daniel Stratford from Virginia is a student at Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Design School, where he is specialising in furniture creation.
Daniel was selected to participate in the competition by his lecturer.
He was given the task of building a cabinet using traditional silks in 23 hours.
Daniel added that it was a very enjoyable and worthwhile experience.
"I always had an interest in this ever since I was young," Daniel told Northern Sound.
"In Transition Year the mini company student enterprise awards gave me the opportunity to create my own enterprise.
"It was placed nationally in the competition and I was delighted with that.
"So, all of this has strengthened my skills along the way.
