The auction is due to take place on Tuesday.

A Cavan man's collection of countryside memorabilia is set to go under the hammer later this week.

John 'Sean' Smith from Crossdoney was an avid collector of vintage machinery including tractors, ploughs, fuel pumps, and old road signs.

His collection also includes household items like oil lamps and whiskey jars with the names of pubs emblazoned on them.

Niall Mullen of Niall Mullen Antiques said the find served as an "exceptional snapshot of Irish country history".

The auction takes place on August the 30th at McSeain's Pub in Cornafean at 12 noon.
