A local senator says that recent events show the need for improved public transport.
Joe O'Reilly says the disruption experienced over the past week has exposed how limited transport options remain outside major cities.
He noted that the fuel issues recently is another indication of how it has become clear that we need to reduce cars on the road and increase public transport in every possible way.
The Fine Gael senator says continued investment in regional bus routes, Local Link services, and rail connectivity is essential to ensure that towns and villages are not left isolated. Employment centres, healthcare, and education should remain key priorities
