Paul Lynch believes that the upcoming competition is a great way of putting Cavan Town on the national map.

Cavan Tidy Towns has been put forward to the all-island Ireland's Best Kept Town competition, which takes place in May. It's a big honour to be put forward as only the top performing towns across Ireland and Northern Ireland feature in this competition. Paul Lynch is the Secretary of Cavan Tidy Towns. Speaking to Northern Sound, Paul revealed that based on last year's result in the competition, the national tidy towns authority have put the local group forward to take part in Ireland's Best Kept Town competition, which means the successful group will be competing twice this year. According to the local man, members of the Cavan Tidy Towns group are "extremely excited" to be involved in an all-island event. He added that taking part will draw great attention to Cavan Town and put it on the national map.

"This is about putting Cavan where it should be, we've a beautiful town, beautiful surroundings and great amenities, we just need to let people know about these," explained Paul. "It's very important that we look after our town. The adjudication for this competition is in May so we would ask people from now until May to be wary of our litter, and to try honour our recycling commitments. Lets beautify the town by keeping it tidy."
