CDNTs in Cavan and Monaghan operating at crisis level - Local TD

In response, Minister of State at the Department of Children, Hildegarde Naughton, admitted the waiting times are a problem, and work is ongoing to continue recruitment.

A local TD says the Children's Disability Network Team in Cavan and Monaghan is operating at a crisis level.

Waiting lists for assessments of needs have made headlines in recent weeks, with figures showing 8.900 children are waiting on an assessment.

7,000 of those have been waiting for at least 3 months.

Sinn Fein TD for Cavan-Monaghan, Matt Carthy, says previous data shows 12 CDNT posts remained unfilled up to March in Monaghan, and the situation could be worse in Cavan,

Speaking in the Dáil, he called on the Department to intervene urgently to ensure children are not left waiting for essential assessments.
