Finian O’Harte auctioned two Hex cows at Clones Mart yesterday, with the proceeds going towards the refurbishment of the new premises in Emyvale.

The Chair of the Monaghan branch of the Alzheimer's Society has praised a local farmer for his fundraising efforts in aid of a new centre in Emyvale.

Finian O'Harte auctioned two Hex cows at Clones Mart yesterday and the proceeds of the sales are going towards the refurbishment of the much-needed new premises, that has been provided by Silver Hill Foods.

It's hoped the building will be fully refurbished by the end of this year.

Finian decided to donate the animals in memory of his late mother Eileen who used the centre, which was formerly in Drumkill, Threemilehouse.

Brendan Casey, Chair of the Monaghan branch of the Alzheimer's Society, thanked the entire farming community and says "a good few pound" was raised through the auction:
