The NCSE, which was set up to improve the delivery of education to people with special educational needs, has approved the appointment.

The Chief Executive of Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board is to leave his position.

CMETB says John Kearney has been recommended as CEO of the National Council for Special Education.

The NCSE, which was set up to improve the delivery of education to people with special educational needs, has approved the appointment.

Kearney is a former principal of Breifne College in Cavan and has held his position in the CMETB since 2016.

In a statement, John Kearney said his new appointment will enable him to bring “unique CMETB visions” to a national setting.
