Clones crash accused back in court next month

Anthony McGinn will appear before Monaghan Circuit Court next month.

A 60 year old man was today served the Book of Evidence and sent forward to Monaghan Circuit Court charged in connection with a fatal road traffic incident in the Clones area last July. Anthony McGinn of Drumloo, Newbliss appeared before Judge Raymond Finnegan at Monaghan District Court this morning. Anthony McGinn, aged 60, of Drumloo, Newbliss, Co Monaghan is charged with dangerous driving causing the deaths of 17-year-old Kiea McCann and 16-year-old Dlava Mohammed at Legnakelly, Clones on July 31 2023. Mr McGinn is also charged with dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm to Avin Mohammed on the same occasion.

Close friends Kiea McCann and Dlava Mohammed were killed when the vehicle in which they were travelling struck a tree while they were on their way to attend a debs function in Monaghan Town. Mr McGinn will appear before Monaghan Circuit Court next month on Wednesday the 29th of May. Today Judge Raymond Finnegan remanded the defendant on continued bail and also granted Mr McGinn's request for free legal aid.
