While Kirsty paid tribute to her mum for all the help she received in creating the video, Linda told Northern Sound that she was "more than happy" to help out and the she is "extremely proud" of her daughter Kirsty and her recent achievement.

County Monaghan will be cheering on one of its own this weekend, as 13-year-old Kirsty McDonald will hit the big-screen on RTE's 'Up For the Match' which will air on Saturday night.

Kirsty who proudly plays for her beloved St Tiernach's Clones GAA club, has always had a passion for sport and jumped at the chance when an advert for the competition appeared on social media.

Following her successful entry, a short clip of Kirsty commentating on a GAA match which was filmed at St Tiernach's Park will be played on the popular RTE ONE show.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Kirsty said she "loves" playing for her local club, and that it's her "dream" to one day become a sports commentator after playing for Monaghan at county level.

The Clones teenager added that she really "enjoyed" the experience of creating the video and is looking forward to seeing it on national television this weekend.
