There are concerns that dial-a-drink services are leading to increased consumption of alcohol by older vulnerable people in the Northern Sound Region.

The North East Regional Drug and Alcohol Task Force has raised this concern, as well as concerns over the safety and rights of alcohol delivery drivers locally at a meeting with elected representatives today.

The sale of drink at unlicensed hours without enforcement or regulation has been an issue for a number of years according to the National Lead for Community Action on Alcohol, Paula Leonard, who says the legal ‘loopholes’ need to be shut.
