The number of men who sought help from Men's Aid Domestic Violence service increased by just over a quarter last year.
A total of 9,524 contacts were made to the organisation in 2022, a 26% increase on the previous year.
According to its latest annual report, one-in-four of those who called the domestic violence support service, did so for the first time. Men cited emotional, psychological, physical, financial, and sexual abuse and high levels of coercively controlling relationships as reasons for getting in contact.
Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee TD has launched the annual report. The Report being released marks International Men’s Day, that takes place this Sunday. Men’s Aid, Ireland is the only dedicated organisation supporting men and their families experiencing domestic violence.
