Gardaí in Cavan town received a report in relation to a car that was broken into on Tuesday evening. According to local Gardaí, the culprit had left the scene, however, a short time later a suspect in his early 30's was identified and arrested.
The man was later charged in connection with the incident and has appeared before Monaghan District Court. As a result, Gardaí in Cavan are encouraging the public to 'park smart' and secure your vehicle.
Motorists are advised to not leave valuables on show, lock doors and close windows, fit an alarm, install a tracker, use physical security like a steering wheel lock, secure your number plates, park under street lights and consider parking where there is CCTV.
