A community is in shock following the confirmation that two people have died in an incident in Maguiresbridge.
The shooting incident happened this morning in Maguiresbridge, about 12 kilometres from Enniskillen.
Police and other emergency services were called here to the Drummeer Road area shortly before 8.30 this morning.
This is a remote, quiet, rural area, where there's still a heavy police presence, with a large cordon in place. Full details are still emerging, but police have confirmed two people are dead and another two have been seriously hurt, one of which was airlifted to hospital. Police says there's no ongoing risk to the public. Local politicians are asking people not to speculate on social media, as investigations continue.
William Smith from Fermanagh based newspaper the impartial reporter was at the scene all morning and he has been giving me the latest information on this incident.
Northern Ireland First Minister Michelle O'Neill said she is "absolutely heartbroken by the news from Maguiresbridge". In a post on X, she said she has no doubt the community will come together and "support one another through this incredibly difficult time"
