A new ‘focused and concentrated’ gynecology service has been announced for Cavan by Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly.
The CN3 service - which was developed by the National Women and Infants Health Programme - will be up and running in the coming weeks and is expected to be based at Cavan General Hospital.
The move is one of seven services that are being rolled out nationally this year.
It also signals a €31 million investment by the Government in women’s healthcare in 2022.
Deputy Niamh Smyth says that not only does the service put an emphasis on women’s health care, it will also have a "positive impact" on reducing waiting lists locally and nationally.
She highlighted to Shannonside Northern Sound how the service will become a "one-stop-shop" for women across the constituency.
