10 men are being questioned in Cork this morning after an operation targeting organised crime in the county yesterday. The men, detained in West Cork yesterday morning, range in age from their mid 20s to mid 50s.
A number of vehicles also remain in Garda custody for technical examination. Ralph Riegel, Southern Correspondent with the Irish Independent, says no drugs have yet been found in the investigation: "What's intriguing is the that a number of those detained are very experienced divers so, it puts the focus on something that's been speculated about and, certainly the gardaí have been looking long and hard at this for a long time that part of the drugs distribution network may very well involve drugs being delivered off-shore underwater with electronic tagging devices."
