A Co Cavan man believes Dublin's O'Connell Street is lacking what other European city centres have.
Kilnaleck native Darren Gaffney posed the question on social media asking what has the main thoroughfare in Dublin to offer.
He says when you think of other European cities, the centres are bustling and full of high standard retail outlets.
The Co Cavan man who lives in Dublin says after 6pm, O'Connell Street is empty and there is an air of unease from the lack of people around.
Dublin City Council said last week they are set to spend €3.8m on a dedicated unit for the "rejuvenation" of the city centre in response to the riots over two years ago that "deeply affected the city".
Dublin's north inner city has been plagued by petty crime and allegedly unsafe streets for several years which has been heightened since the start of the pandemic in 2020. Darren who is a comedian says walking down O'Connell Street after 8pm, there is almost no premises open except for a couple of fast food restaurants.
