This is the fifth outbreak of avian influenza in poultry in the Republic of Ireland this year, and the fourth in County Monaghan.

A duck flock in County Monaghan has tested positive for bird flu.

The Department of Agriculture confirmed the latest case this evening.

This is the fifth outbreak of avian influenza in poultry in the Republic of Ireland this year, and the fourth in County Monaghan.

The other was in a turkey flock in the Butlersbridge area of Cavan.

All cases are confirmed to be the highly pathogenic H5N1 strain, with all infected flocks depopulated.
