We want people to come to a considered view on the Framework.

The DUP shouldn't be bounced into making a decision on the Windsor Framework, according to the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. Chris Heaton Harris has said despite meetings with the US President this week, time and space is important.

The DUP says it has a number of issues with the Framework which may require UK legislation. The Northern Ireland Secretary, says the programme of Good Friday events in Washington isn't about giving a further push to the DUP to agree to the deal.

"The whole point of having this period of time after publishing everything is to give people the time and space to look at it all. I know the Unionist community has felt bounced into things in the past and we absolutely do not want to do that this time.

"We want people to come to a considered view and my personal opinion on that is the view will be a positive one on the Windsor Framework," added Mr Heaton-Harris.  Meanwhile, The DUP leader is said to be on "a charm offensive" in the US this week.

Jeffrey Donaldson told the National Press Club in Washington last night that Northern Ireland has only ever made progress when unionists and nationalists have worked together. Columnist with the Belfast Telegraph, Allison Morris thinks he's being a lot more savvy than previous party leaders.
