€18.4 million has been allocated to Cavan and Monaghan for roads.
Just over €9.9 million has been approved for national roads Cavan and just over €9.2 million is on its way to County Monaghan.
Among the headline amounts contained in this year's budget allocation is €3m euro for the Clontibret to border stretch of the N2 something that local residents and politicians have been calling for since 2018.
There is €325 thousand allocated to works on the Belturbet bypass and €1.2 million will go towards the Virginia bypass. €300 thousand is funding works on the Virginia-Maghera safety scheme and the same amount has been allocated to the Cavan Crystal Kilmore roundabout.
Cavan also receives a separate amount of almost €464 thousand for maintenance, while County Monaghan is to get almost €480 thousand for maintenance works. Fianna Fáil Cavan-Monaghan TD Niamh Smyth told Northern Sound that the funding allocated is hugely important for National Roads in Cavan and Monaghan.
