€3 million announced for local projects under the Border Enterprise Development Fund

€3 million has been announced for local projects under the Border Enterprise Development Fund.

It'll see more than 50 jobs created, existing jobs sustained, and an Innovation Hub being set up in Monaghan town.

Cavan Monaghan ETB is to get over €2 million for a Training Centre of Excellence for Supply Chain, Logistics and Procurement.

It will focus on using robotics, 3D printing, and drone technology to address skills gaps and provide a stimulus for cross border trade.

A new Digital Innovation Hub planned for Monaghan town will receive €600,000.

It's planned to drive innovation in the agrifood and engineering sectors through AI, Coding and Machine Learning.

An Irish Wood and Furniture Manufacturing Network is to be set up in Scotstown.

It will create 50 jobs and support the 101 furniture manufacturers in the border region.

€312,000 has been ring-fenced for that.

Speaking following the announcement, Minister Heather Humphreys says the funding will help businesses on the border to prepare for Brexit and to embrace new technology:
