€312,000 has been allocated to Cavan and Monaghan under the Local Enhancement Programme 2026.
Fianna Fáil Minister of State, Niamh Smyth welcomes the announcement that was made by the Minister for Rural Development, Dara Calleary.
Nationally, the programme will provide funding of €7 million.
This funding will provide capital supports that are essential for many small community groups and organisations, particularly those who serve disadvantaged communities in rural and urban areas.
This funding gives community groups a chance to further enhance their facilities for those with a disability and enhancing community participation in their groups.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Minister of State Smyth said that many community groups will avail of the scheme.
Speaking on the announcement she said: “I am absolutely delighted to hear that Cavan/Monaghan will receive €312,428.08 in 2026 under the Local Enhancement Programme.
“Since its establishment, the Local Enhancement Programme has been a vital support for local run groups across Cavan and Monaghan.
“The funding has helped make groups more vibrant in our communities and more inclusive for people across the constituency.
Concluding she said: “I’d encourage all interested groups to get in touch with their Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) that administers the fund in Cavan and Monaghan.”
