Education Minister commits to engaging with west Cavan 'Save Our Schools' campaign

The group is opposed to a proposal to merge St Bricin's and St Mogue's secondary schools.

The west Cavan "Save Our Schools" campaign says the Education Minister has committed to engaging with stakeholders in a "positive" way regarding education proposals.

The group is opposed to the CMETB's proposal to merge St Bricin's and St Mogue's secondary schools into a new facility in Ballyconnell.

Joe O'Reilly is the Secretary of the Save Our Schools campaign and says the proposed merger is "flawed" and "lacks transparency".

The west Cavan group has its first meeting with the Education Minister, Norma Foley, yesterday, and Joe says he is "eager" to continue the conversation.

Speaking on The Wider View, he said the "mandate" of the campaign is to develop the two schools that he says are the "heart" of the community:
