The installation work should take one week to complete.

Work is to commence this week on the installation of a charging point in Blacklion for electric vehicles. Cllr John Paul Feeley highlighted the need for many more charging points in the area as electric cars become more and more popular. This recent development means that there are now charging points installed in Cavan Town, Belturbet and Ballyconnell.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Feeley said that Blacklion is "just one of many" locations where charging points are needed. He continued; "The project at the Shannon Pot to go to construction in the coming weeks includes a number of charging points with additional charging points included in the plans for the Fairgreen in Blacklion also.

"The reality is that we need to ensure that every town and village has electric charging points as well as some of the more heavily visited sites in the Geopark. If, as we are told, EVs are the future then the network of charging points needs to be in place to give drivers the reassurance they need as they drive in all parts of the country. The installation work should only take about a week to complete, thereafter the charging point has to be connect up by ESB Networks which is likely to take some time."
