Ballybay could potentially be the link to three separate greenway developments.

There are calls for a feasibility study to examine the construction of a greenway from Ballybay to Cootehill.

It's the latest proposed walking and cycling route in the mid-Monaghan area, with Ballybay now potentially being a link to three separate greenway developments.

Councillor Seamus Coyle suggested that the path could take in landmarks such as the Ballybay Wetlands, Dartry Forest and Erica's Fairy Forest.

The proposal received unanimous support by the members of the Ballybay-Clones MD.

Councillor Coyle says it could be the beginning of major investment in under promoted tourism areas.
