The suicide rate among LGBTQ+ community is "extremely high", particularly in young transgender people.
This is according to Andrew Shannon who organised a vigil in Cavan on Friday.
The event was part of a nationwide show of solidarity with the community in Sligo following the deaths of Aidan Moffitt and Michael Snee.
Mr Shannon says those suicide rates are "unacceptable".
He also highlighted how health care for the community needs to be explored and implemented.
"It's really important that the proper supports are put in place," he continued.
"The Government needs to tackle transgender healthcare - it is appalling.
"There is no service for under 18s.
"Adult waiting lists for basic consultation and surgery are five years long."
