Heather Humphreys is on the verge of entering the presidential race and appears to be the party's preferred candidate.
That's according to Ireland Editor of the Irish Independent, Fionnán Sheehan.
Fine Gael's Executive will meet later today to consider options for a new Presidential candidate, following Mairead McGuinness' shock withdrawal last week.

Heather Humphreys and Sean Kelly are both under consideration, with a new poll shows Ms. Humphreys narrowly ahead of Independent TD Catherine Connolly as the public's preferred candidate.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, Fionnán Sheahan from the Irish Independent said there's a "fair wind behind her".
