There has been no proper professional search operation carried out to find Jean.

The family of a Cavan woman who mysteriously disappeared without a trace in Portugal two and a half years ago have renewed their appeal for information. Munterconnaught woman Jean Tighe went missing in Lisbon in July 2020 and her family have said they are frustrated by the lack of progress by Portuguese police investigating her disappearance.

Jean Tighe was last seen in early July 2020, and according to her sister Leona, who lives in New York, says she often travelled alone. Leona feels that authorities in Portugal haven't investigated her sister's disappearance thoroughly.

Jean's family say they are receiving some assistance from the government here and Leona says that the Tánaiste and foreign affairs minister Micheal Martin is aware of the disappearance of Jean. She says the family are devastated by the lack of information on Jean's disappearance.

"The first thing we should have had was the locations from Jean's phone and generally a search should have been started based on that information. We have never had that, and there has been no proper professional search operation carried out to find Jean," added Leona.
