'People who live in rural Ireland need a voice' according to the Co Fermanagh poet.

A Co Fermanagh poet has launched his new debut poetry book titled 'The Colebrooke Collection'.

Only five years after writing his first poem, Robert Elliott has now published a total of 68 poems in his new collection.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Robert says he was first bitten by the poetry bug at an open poetry night, where he created a poem for audience members on the spot.

According to the young poet, the title of his new collection is inspired by the river which runs through his native village of Maguiresbridge.

Despite this, Robert says his book of poetry isn't just about Fermanagh, but the various tales and experiences which he has encountered.

He added that through his work, he wants to inspire other poets from rural communities and to let them know that their voices deserve to be heard:
