Four year old killed in road crash is named locally

It took place yesterday.

The boy who died following a fatal road accident in Longford has been named as four-year-old Charlie McDonagh.

The youngster lost his life after he was in collision with a van in the Palace Crescent area of the Ardnacassa housing estate in Longford town at around 2pm on Wednesday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and a post mortem on his remains is due to take place today at Mullingar Regional hospital.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or who may have witnessed the collision, are asked to contact them at 043-3350570.
