Local Minister Heather Humphreys has announced funding of over half a million euro for 17 Outdoor Adventure Projects in Monaghan and Cavan.
The funding is being provided as part of 'Our Rural Future', the Government's policy for rural development.
The announcement is part of a national allocation of almost €6 million, which will see the development and enhancement of walking trails, forest parks, greenways, and water-sports amenities in every county.
Some of the standout projects includes €30,000 for Dartrey Forest to install a mountain bike skills track by Tanagh Outdoor Centre, and €30,000 for upgrade works to Clough Oughter viewing point at Rann Point.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Minister Humphreys said the funding is about getting more local people to enjoy the "hidden gems on their doorstep":
