Gardaí in Carrickmacross seek public assistance following theft of Eir telephone cable

The Gardai in Carrickmacross are seeking the public's assistance following the theft of an Eir telephone cable.

The cable was taken in the area of Lisduff, Ballybay sometime overnight between Saturday and Sunday.

There have been a number of similar incidents in recent weeks with the thieves stripping the cable for its copper content and disrupting rural phone lines.

Local Gardaí are urging people to be vigilant for further such incidents in rural areas and to report immediately anything out of the ordinary to your local Garda Station.
