Gardaí issue public appeal following spate of Cavan burglaries

Members of the public with information have been urged to call their local Garda stations.

Cavan Gardaí have appealed to the public for information following a spate of burglaries which took place across the county in recent weeks.

Garda Lisa Stevens from Bailieborough Garda station says, any information no matter how big or small will play a vital part in helping Gardaí catch the culprits who are responsible.

Gardaí in Kingscourt have renewed their appeal in relation to ongoing investigations of a burglary that occurred between 10.30am and 8pm on the second of April.

According to Gardaí criminals forced entry through a rear window of the property. Rooms were also ransacked and a number of jewellery items stolen.

Kingscourt Gardaí are now calling on anyone who can recall suspicious activity in the Rocks Road area around the time of the incident to come forward.

Public appeals have also been renewed by Gardaí in relation to two separate incidents in Virginia where the local sewage treatment plant was broken into. Property was damaged as well as a number of items stolen.

The first incident occurred overnight on April 3rd, between 3pm and 6.30am. A lifebuoy was stolen from a control room after a door was damaged to gain entry.

The second incident occurred on April 9th, when an employee returned to site to find that a significant amount of damage had been carried out between 4 and 6pm.

Meanwhile, Gardaí in Ballinagh are investigating a burglary which occurred in the early hours of April 20th, at a licensed property in the town of Crossdoney.

Whilst the culprits did not manage to gain anything from their efforts, Gardaí are anxious to stop these criminals.

In Bailieborough, two burglaries occurred on April 21st.

The first incident took place between 10.45am and 2pm, were a house was broken into in Tunny Duff.

Culprits damaged the front door and ransacked the property, causing considerable upset to the home owner.

The second property, also in the Tunny Duff area, fell victim to these criminals between 11am and 1pm when the homeowner returned home at 2pm to find the front door forced open and a sum of money missing.
