Gardai in Monaghan and Cavan are seeking the public’s help following incidents in Monaghan town and in Bailieboro over the last few days.
In one incident, a male called to the home of an elderly man purporting to be a member of An Garda Siochana at Cranadillion, Virginia, Co Cavan on the 30th November last at approximately 11:15am
The male is being described as approximately 50 years old and of stocky build with dark hair and a Dublin accent and he stole a substantial sum of money from the elderly man.
He was wearing grey trousers and a fluorescent stab vest.
During the incident, he produced a realistic looking Garda ID and indicated that money was found nearby by children.
He then walked into the house and asked the injured party where he kept his money.
He stole euro and sterling from the elderly man and left the house on foot.
Anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the locality at the time of the incident is asked to contact Bailieboro Garda station on 042 9694570.
Meanwhile, anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the High Street area of Monaghan town last Saturday 27th November at 8:30pm is asked to help gardai with their inquiries after three
males entered a house but were disturbed.
They subsequently fled the scene on foot and walked in the direction of Mr Price where it is understood one of the suspects was in possession of a golf club.
