Gardaí urge people to plan their journeys the morning after socialising

Cavan-Monaghan Garda Division say substances, such as alcohol, could still be in people's system the next day.

Gardai in Monaghan are urging people to remember they might still be over the drink-driving limit the morning after socialising.

With people more likely to meet up with friends and family over the Christmas period, they're being asked to plan their journeys.

This means knowing how they'll get somewhere and that they've organised a way home if they're planning on drinking.

Sergeant Niall Leech, from the Cavan-Monaghan Garda Division, says sleeping the night doesn't mean its save to get behind the wheel.
