Green light for Monaghan wastewater treatment plant upgrade

Uisce Éireann has submitted an application to Monaghan County Council to carry out the works at its infrastructure in Oram village

Planning permission has been submitted for the upgrade of a Co. Monaghan wastewater treatment plant.

Uisce Éireann has submitted an application to Monaghan County Council to carry out the works at its infrastructure in Oram village.

The water authority is seeking to redevelop its infrastructure at Oram Village and townlands of, Formil, Oram, Lisdoony, Lurganmore, Annyart, Drumaliss, Killygola, Derrycreevy, Drumillard Big and Drumillard Little, and Castleblayney.

Included in the application is the rationalisation and upgrading of the wastewater infrastructure.

This consists of the decommissioning of the existing Wastewater Treatment Plant, site restoration, boundary treatment works and landscaping.

It also includes the upgrading of the existing Church Wastewater Pumping Stations, the provision of a control kiosk, and below-ground flowmeter and value chamber.

The works carried out will also comprise pipework, drainage, electrical infrastructure, lighting, and 2.4 metre high security fencing.

The construction of new below-ground wastewater transfer infrastructure is also part of the proposals, as well as connections to the existing Castleblayney wastewater network.
